Funding Your Community Projects

Do you have an idea for a project which would enhance our community? Do you need financial support to make it happen? We might be able to help. We receive an annual grant from the Council to run the forum and any surplus we have is used to help fund projects which meet our main objective to enhance and maintain the quality of the area in which we live. Recently we have provided the following funding:

  • £150 was paid out towards the Kitchener Road passageway waste clearance (partial), utilising BCC funds previously ringfenced for this purpose.

  • £19.00 was paid out to replace the Kitchener Road passageway lock

  • £103.60 contributed to the repair of the Cecil Road rear alley barrier.

We can also approach other organisations for grants to fund specific projects. Last year we received one from Selly Oak Neighbourhood Network Scheme which has so far provided

  • £170.42 for plants and new planters

  • £251.63 towards Covid support

We have produced a policy for how to request funding which is laid out below.

Policy

The Forum may be able to provide limited funding to support specific community needs, subject to available resources. Priority will be given to the purchase of items or services which benefit the safety and well-being of Selly Park South neighbourhood residents and improve the appearance of the local area – for example, helping to reduce rubbish, fly-tipping and graffiti. Please see below for a map of the area covered by our funding.

We have a small annual budget, so it is unlikely we would be able to contribute more than £150 to any single request. Forum funds must benefit a majority or number of residents, not sole individuals or households. We also require that, wherever possible, residents provide a cash or in-kind contribution themselves, to enable Forum funds to go further. Before releasing any funds, we would require receipts as evidence of purchase.

Requests should be submitted to sellyparksouth@yahoo.co.uk for review by the Selly Park South Neighbourhood Forum Committee.

Decisions will be made by the Committee, based on evidence of need and with the aim of

making best use of Forum resources. While we are unable to fund every request, we will

endeavour to help where we can.
